Though football is the most liked sport all over the world and just a little less than it are the cricket fans but on 8th of July, 2014 happened an incident, which shook both the football and the cricket fans. It was the first semifinal, between five times FIFA champions Brazil and three times champions Germany.

In the group stage , Brazil and Germany performed exactly same, by winning two out of three matches in the stage and one ending in draw each. Both came in the knock-out stage with seven points each in their hands and there too Brazil defeated columbia by 2-1 and Germany taking over France, ended their journey by taking a 1-0 win.

But the two bad news struck Brazil as their key player Neymar Jr. , Who played a very important role in taking his team to the semifinals was injured in the match against columbia and was ruled out of the tournament. And the second bad news was the Brazil defender and the captain , Thiago Silva was suspended for the match due to accumulation of yellow cards, despite his appeal against the suspension to the Brazilian football federation. And without them the less experienced and a light team entered to play the semifinals against the strong side Germany. And that happened, which was expected.

In the first 29 minutes only, Germany thrashed five goals starting from Thomas Muller in the 11th minute, then just in the six quick minutes, the four goals were scored. They were done by m.klose 23′ , Tony Kroos 24′ & 26′ , s. Khedria 29′. It was looking like the Germans were playing with the inexperienced Brazil team. They had absolutely no clue about what is happening and what to do. They tried with all their might, but failed to take it over the line and half time was over with the scoreline reading 5-0!

Everyone was shocked to witness such a scoreline and can’t had dreamt of it ever. Such a well known team , is losing to a less popular team in a horrific way. This was unacceptable by most of the fans and non fans too.

Now the second half started , with Brazil aiming to open their account and to comeback in the match but this time too, things didn’t went their way and the strong Germans took the advantage and struck two more goals . A. Schurlle scored two of the final goals in the 69 th and the 79th minute , taking the unbelievable scoreline to a much unbelievable 7-0!

And with now , seeing no way to come back, Brazil just tried to defend their goal, in which the Germans attacked seven times. But with the good effort, which was too late for the Brazilians, they got their first goal in the ultimate minute of the match, which was made by Oscar. This was the goal which had no celebration at all! As the opposite side had seven times more goals than them. The absence of Neymar Jr and the captain Thiago Silva affected Brazil to a great extent. This match was considered as the ” national shame ” , by the Brazilians as this was totally unacceptable by everyone that how such a top team can lose to a team at a lower level than it.

In the next match, for third place Brazil took over Netherlands but this time too! They lost to them by 3-0 and the absence of Neymar Jr and captain Thiago Silva was felt again , as Brazil was again handed a great loss by a less capable team and they finished at the 4th position in the 2014 world Cup.
