There are many games played in the world from more than thousand years. Like the athletics were played in Greece for 1300+ years or even much earlier. And now after it , as the years and centuries passed, the new games started to take place and with it these games slowly got recognition all over the world. And today more than 60+ or more games are played all over the 190 nations of the world.
>But do you know how these games are organised together and with many nations together?
They are organised in the same way, as the leauges or tournaments of cricket and football, with each sport having a number of matches , including group stage, knock out, semifinals and finals.
There are though many multination tournaments, but the most important are the Asian games, and more important and widely watched are the commonwealth games and the Olympics.
What’s the difference between Olympic games and commonwealth games, since they both are the multination tournaments and also have a number of participants , not restricted only to a continent, like the Asian games.

• The commonwealth games consists of those participants who were once under the British colonies, like India, Pakistan, Australia, Canada, new Zealand, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh south Africa, England, Scotland, Wales , Ireland etc. And many more. There are 54 members participating in commonwealth games and 71 teams currently participate in this tournament as a number of depending territories competing under their own flag.
* The Olympics consist of all the nations , of world , participating in it. They also include those nations too which play the commonwealth games, but all those nations which play Olympics don’t compete in commonwealth, only the british influenced ones. Total of 206 nations and territories compete in Olympics.
•The first Commonwealth Games were held as ‘first British Empire Games’ in 1930 in Hamilton, Canada.
* The first modern Olympics were played in 1896, in Athens, Greece.
• The commonwealth games are organised in every four years gap, with the full tournament played in a single go, like the FIFA and ICC cricket World cups. But due to evolution of sports from time to time, there are many tournaments introduced out of commonwealth, like the winter commonwealth games including the sports played on ice like ice hockey and commonwealth paraplegic games, where the athletes with disability gets a chance to show their talent, is started in 1958 and the commonwealth youth games, where the young athletes aged between 14 to 18 take part in it, was organized from 2000.
* The Olympics too are organised in a gap of four years, but have a different pattern , like the summer and winter Olympics, which are conducted in a typical Olympic session , i.e. each type of game (summer and winter ones) are conducted in every two years and thus the cycle repeats after every four years. International Paralympic games are too organized in 1960 for the specially challenged athletes called the paralympians, where 400 athletes took part from 23 countries all over the world.

• over 500 or a bit more athletes take part in the commonwealth games.
* the number of athletes participating in Olympics are in thousands.
• CGF or the commonwealth games federation, takes the control of these games and selects the cities or the venues, where the tournament has to be played.
*IOC, or the international Olympic committee governs the Olympics and the Olympic movement, with the Olympic charter defining the structure and authority of Olympic games.
• The commonwealth games are played over a span of 10 days only.
* The commonwealth games are played for around 17 days.

• games played in the commonwealth are: Athletics, basketball, gymnastics, cycling, swimming, badminton, rugby sevens, trialathon, squash, table tennis , netball, etc.
* games played in the summer Olympics are 42 and in winter Olympics are 15, taking a total to 57. They are: 3×3 basketball, boxing, archery, shooting, artistic swimming, artistic gymnastics, BMX, canoe etc. Are played in the summer Olympics and alpine skiing, ice hockey, luge , freestyle skiing, biathlon, cross country skiing, curling, figure skating, skeleton, etc. All come under the winter Olympics.
• In commonwealth games our , in archery our country is at second place with 8 medals and in shooting is it also at the second after Australia with total 134 medals and in swimming, we are at a 16 th position with only one bronze medal.
* In Olympics , in athletics our country is at 74th position with 2 silver medals and in shooting we are at the 34th position with 4 medals in total to our name. In 2016 Rio Olympics Sakshi Malik got the bronze medal for india in wrestling and in the same year, in badminton P.V. sindhu was just close to a gold medal, but she lost to Carolina Marin , but managed a silver which made our country proud.
So what do you think that, which tournament is more interesting according to you? In which tournament our country is doing better?
